What is imposter syndrome ?

The inability to believe that one’s success is deserved or doubting your skills, talent accomplishments. Why do we carry these limited beliefs and thoughts despite external evidence of our competence , we deserve to celebrate our success and own it. Where are these thoughts coming from?.do those negative thoughts even go away ,can we ever silence those loud words that screams you are not worthy or good enough.

It’s not just a thought that one can ignore ,it can impact your behaviour and mental Health .As individuals especially in a working environment we are required to perform and great communication and connections with others is a must in order to achieve success .

Where does imposter syndrome come from ?

In my social and life experience from my observation I feel that it comes from internal and external factors ,how one was brought up, trauma ,social influence.I find most people who struggles with imposter syndromes also struggles with low self esteem. When they walk in a room they immediately feel judged or feel not good enough. The high pressure in workplaces or educational can make one feel inadequate and also comparisons with others can affect one emotionally .When we also idealise the versions of others on social media it can exacerbate more negative feelings.

How to overcome imposter syndrome?

-Be aware when you get triggered and breathe in deep to ground yourself.Recognise your thoughts and practice self talk(you are prepared for this and you got this)

-Take small steps to build your self confidence and each self talk makes your confidence muscle stronger. Talk about your feelings in a non judgmental safe environment.

-Reframe your thoughts on failure as an opportunity to learn.

-Remember the is no shame in trying your best ,we are all on a journey in life to learn and unlearn.Walk in the room knowing that you have something to offer.
